What Happens on the Hunt

Hunt Introduction

The 2026 dangerous game hunts occur in multiple concessions throughout Zimbabwe (unless otherwise communicated). Depending on the type of game hunted, there are numerous camp locations to put you in the best position to be successful. These are truly wild hunts, and nothing is guaranteed except that each hunt will be conducted in the most organized and professional manner, with a no-quit attitude from anyone on the hunt staff. You will see quality game, but it must be hunted. We hunt only for mature specimens of each species, so be prepared to turn down smaller animals (we do not want disappointed hunters).

On elephant hunts, hunters can expect to walk many miles in 12 days. You will look over bulls of all sizes but expect to harvest ivory in the 40 to 50-pound range. Every year, we take bulls over 50 pounds. Bulls in the concessions are known for very thick ivory. These concessions are some of the top elephant concessions in Central and Southern Africa.

Leopard hunts are conducted in classic style, in a concealed blind, over active baits. Night hunting is legal in several African countries, so the hunter must be prepared to spend the night in the blind, awaiting the cat’s arrival. The leopard populations in the concessions are outstanding, with huge Toms taken every season.

Cape buffalo are hunted via spot and stalk or tracking from water sources. Buffalo hunts will occur in the northern part of the concession. While there are bulls well over 40", a hunter can reasonably expect to harvest a hard-bossed, mature bull in the 38" to 40" range. On old bulls, it is the hunter’s discretion if he/she wants to harvest, as every buffalo hunter looks for different characteristics in a trophy bull.

Hunt Details

You (and a non-hunting guest, if desired) will be picked up at the airport and transported to camp the day before the start of your hunt. Once there, you will get settled in and sight in your rifle(s). The hunt plan will be discussed, and protocols will be covered. Field safety is critical, especially when hunting dangerous game. All safety items will be covered to ensure a complete understanding of expectations.

Except for leopard hunts, your morning will start early with a light breakfast, then into the vehicle to check for tracks from overnight activity. Hunting dictates the cadence of the day. You will find your quarters cleaned and laundry folded upon returning to camp. Before moving to the dining area, there will be time to unwind and get a hot shower. Sundowners and dinner will usually be served well after dark unless success is achieved earlier in the day. At dinner, you will discuss plans for the next day of hunting.

Once successful, you must know what taxidermy preparation you want for your trophies. Trophies harvested will be handled with the most professional care possible. At the completion of your hunt, your field treated skins and skulls will be delivered to a local taxidermist for required preparation to ship to your final international destination.

At the completion of your hunt, you will be transported back to the airport for your departure home.

How It Works: The Basics

Find our full Terms and Conditions here. Subscribers will be eligible for 14 entries per subscription year (the date the subscriber joins indicates the start of the subscription year). [Note: Tusker Club has double the entries.]

The subscriber will be able to allocate their total number of entries in any way they prefer. For example, the subscriber may choose to allocate one entry to each hunt drawing, all entries to one hunt drawing, or some combination in between.  Entry allocation is done by each subscriber in the Subscriber Portal. The subscriber default will be one entry per hunt.

All hunt drawings will be conducted on a regularly scheduled basis throughout the year. Only paying subscribers are eligible for the hunt drawings. For each drawing, three names will be pulled. The first name pulled is the winner of the drawing. Winners will be contacted immediately via phone, text, and email to inform them of their drawing success. If a drawing has fewer than three different subscribers entered, the drawing will be cancelled.

Winners have seven (7) days to respond to claim their prize. If the winner does not respond within seven days, the second name drawn is considered the drawing winner. If no winner is declared after the third name is contacted, three more names will be drawn. This process repeats until a winner is declared. All drawings will be recorded, and the video of the drawing will be posted for subscribers on our subscriber portal at hornandtusk.com/drawing-results immediately upon completion of the drawing.

A hunt contract will be sent to the winner within 48 hours of acceptance. The hunt will only occur once the contract is signed, dated, scanned, and returned to info@hornandtusk.com. When the contract is received, the winner will receive a hunt packet with all the information needed to prepare for the hunt.

All winners are immediately eligible for future drawings (there is no limit on how many times a subscriber can win a drawing). Hunt dates for all elephant, leopard, and buffalo hunts are predetermined and will be assigned to the hunts before the drawing year.
